Men aren’t the usual suspects for breast cancer. Women get screened regularly. Women know how to do self-exams for breast cancer. Women get mammograms. The scary fact is that men makeup less than 1% of cases. By the time their breast cancer is detected, it’s been brewing in the body for a while. Late cancer detection of any kind isn’t good for any body. Men have breast tissue, too. The Male Breast Cancer Coalition is a great resource and reference point if you know a male who’s been diagnosed with breast cancer. The organization remind men with breast cancer that they’re not alone and the journey through cancer isn’t one to take alone.
